Poor, An Emperor Penguin stray Up To New Zealand

Emperor penguin a bird species that are commonly found in Antarctica appear Beach Peka Peka, New Zealand. This scene is rare and is the first time an Emperor penguin witnessed in New Zealand in the last 44 years.

"I see the gleaming white beings moving up and I thought I was imagining that time," said Christine Wilton, who found a penguin when she was walking with his dog, as quoted by the BBC.

Local conservation department can not predict how the penguins arrived there, and said the animal probably took the wrong direction.
"It is wonderful that we can see one of these penguins at the Kapiti coast," the official said the department, Peter Simpson.

Visitors who are not invited to the beach attract an audience consisting of local residents and people passing by who told not to disturb the penguins and bind tightly to chain their dogs.

Conservationists say the bird was young, around 10 months of age and height 80 cm.
Emperor penguin penguin species is the highest and greatest. The birds can grow to a height of 122 cm and weighs over 34 kg.

Colin Miskelly, a penguin expert from Te Papa, New Zealand's national museum, said the penguin was apparently born in the last winter in Antarctica. He might be looking for squid and krill (shrimp-like plankton) and then take the wrong direction so lost and appeared in the North Island of New Zealand.

"Penguin seems to continue to go to the north and very far from the usual distance he traveled," said Miskelly.
